Workshop on Biodemography of Aging, Longevity, & Sociality
Project Leader
Workshop Goals and Objectives
The overarching theme will involve concepts derived from evolutionary ecology as they relate to humans and human societies including behavioral biology (genetics; neurobiology; ecology; evolution), life history and game theory, sociobiology, and principles of social evolution. We will:
bring together leading scientists from demography, economics, sociology, anthropology, evolutionary biology (insect societies), and behavioral ecology to integrate and synthesize concepts pertaining to both demographic (traditional) and biodemographic aspects of sociality,
use the emerging paradigm of biodemography to foster interaction among biologists and demographers with particular emphasis on the development of collaborative research concerned with the sociality, life span, and aging societies, and,
assemble a set of papers written to be accessible to a wide audience and designed to have lasting value to the readers.
